Platycerium coronarium is a magnificent fern. These images, taken at Marie Selby Botanical Garden, in Sarasota, Florida, show a well-grown specimen which is probably 12 ft. from top to bottom.
This species and P. ridleyi are unusual in that they make a round, cupped spore lobe. P. coronarium should receive lots of water while actively growing, but must be kept fairly dry in winter. |
