Platycerium hillii is an Australian species. Hennipman and Roos consider this a variety of P. bifurcatum.
The shield fronds of this species are more or less round, and close at the top, a characteristic of plants from wet locales. Not as cold hardy as P. bifurcatum, it is an easy species to grow, and can make a spectacular specimen. The plant in the picture was grown by Tropic I Orchids, in Haines City, FL. This may be P. hillii 'Bloomei'. |
