Platycerium veitchii is native to Australia.  Although it is usually lithophytic it, does well on plaques, or in baskets.  This species grows in areas which are dry for up to six months.

Often found in full sun, this species thrives with good care in the brightest light.  Plants grown in shade make long, drooping fertile fronds.  The same plant, when grown in full sun will be compact, with strongly erect, stumpy fertile fronds, and long fingers on the shields.
