Huperzia squarrosa is one of my favorites. A little more forgiving than most, Huperzia squarrosa can be a spectacular specimen. The fronds tend to grow up and out, then become pendant.
Huperzia squarrosa can be grown mounted, but the size and weight of a specimen argue for basket culture.
Where watering can be controlled, Huperzia squarrosa can be grown in a pot, in an open mix, such as one suitable for phalaenopsis orchids.
Huperzia squarrosa is probably a good choice for beginners.
